Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. A castle that walks around, a fire demon in the hearth, and a feeling of being tucked in. If I could bottle one book as a mug of tea, it would be this one.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik. I read it somewhere very green and very quiet, and now the Wood feels like a place I have actually walked through. Fairy tale atmosphere with real teeth, and a lovely slow burn romance in the middle of it.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. The black and white striped tents belong to a particular winter when I read it in two sittings and then stood in my kitchen feeling oddly bereaved. Best possible kind of book hangover.
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. An orc retires from adventuring to open a coffee shop, and I have not stopped thinking about it. This is the book I hand to friends who say they are too stressed for fantasy. It is the softest landing in the genre, and our cozy fantasy romance list exists largely because of it.
Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross. Letters, rival journalists, and a tender ache. I remember reading it in one long stretch and then immediately wanting to write someone an actual letter, which is the highest compliment I can pay a book.
