The Empyrean by Rebecca Yarros. I read Fourth Wing in three days, read Iron Flame in four, and then Onyx Storm arrived and I got scared. Violet Sorrengail deserves better than a reader who flinches. This is the series that pulled half of BookTok into dragon rider fantasy romance, and I am the one holding up the line. With the surprise Empyrean book landing September 29, the series guide and I have an appointment.
Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas. Bryce Quinlan, Hunt Athalar, and a city I want to move to despite the body count. I keep not starting House of Flame and Shadow, because the moment I do, there is nothing left to save. If you are starting fresh, the Crescent City reading order is on the shelf.
Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Poppy and Casteel, five books deep on our shelf, and I stalled after The War of Two Queens for no defensible reason. My copy still has a bookmark in it from a holiday two summers ago. The Blood and Ash series page says there are six now. Six.
The Crowns of Nyaxia by Carissa Broadbent. The Serpent and the Wings of Night gave me Oraya, Raihn, and a vampire tournament I still think about at odd hours. The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King has been staring at me for months, and the Crowns of Nyaxia in order only makes the staring worse. If you want more of that flavor, our vampire romantasy books shelf is a hazard.
Quicksilver by Callie Hart. Saeris and Kingfisher, a 5 out of 5 on our book spice ratings, and the sequel Brimstone landed last November. I have not opened it. I have simply looked at it, repeatedly, like it might start itself.
Moonfall by Sarah A. Parker. When the Moon Hatched has the most inventive worldbuilding of the last five years and I will keep saying so loudly. The Ballad of Falling Dragons came out in February, Raeve is presumably still furious about something, and I would like to find out what.
Prince of Sin by Kerri Maniscalco. Throne of the Fallen gave us Camilla and the Prince of Envy, then Throne of Secrets handed the story to Gabriel Axton. I have read the first one twice and the second one zero times, which is a choice I cannot defend.
