Everything You Need to Know About Throne of Secrets

Gabriel Axton is the Prince of Gluttony, infamous for living purely for indulgence, fine food, beautiful women, and the thrill of pursuit. But when his favorite hunt ends in a mysterious death, he realizes something is deeply wrong in his demon court. To stop darkness from consuming their kingdom, he partners with Adriana Saint Lucent, a reporter determined to expose demonic corruption. She came looking for proof of his wickedness. He came to uncover a conspiracy. They're not allies by choice, more like rivals forced into an uneasy truce. But with secrets keeping them apart and danger closing in, can they find the truth before it's too late?

Maniscalco captures the banter between Gabriel and Adriana perfectly, they genuinely antagonize each other, and the tension is delicious. The worldbuilding expands beyond the original Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy; you get real texture on what demon courts look like, how they function, what indulgence actually means as a Primal sin. Gabriel is complex, arrogant and self-serving, but not actually a villain. The mystery has real stakes, and the conspiracy affecting the demon court is genuinely threatening. The spice level is high, and the chemistry feels inevitable.

Explicit sexual content. Violence typical of demon court intrigue. Manipulation and deception. Implied past relationships with power imbalances. Alcohol and drug use.

Gabriel's indulgence isn't just hedonism, it's a coping mechanism for something deeper. Adriana discovers information that could destroy Gabriel's reputation, creating real tension about whether she'll expose him. They do have explicit sexual scenes. The conspiracy involves multiple demon princes and reaches higher than expected. The ending suggests a longer arc beyond this book, with Adriana gaining insight into demon politics she never expected.

Standalone within the Kingdom of the Wicked universe, but best enjoyed if you've read at least the first Kingdom book to understand the world. Try this if you love enemies-to-lovers with actual antagonism and heated arguments before the bedroom scenes. Fans of Gabriel will get more than brief appearances, this is his story.

Book 2 in the Prince of Sin series. Book 1 is House of Beating Wings (Stolas's story). This is marketed as standalone, but you'll understand the world better having read the original Kingdom trilogy. The series plans to give each Prince of Sin their own book.
