Alexa and Jericho survived the first curse, but being entangled with the gods comes with costs. A new curse emerges, involving more mortals and a deeper mystery: the gods are preparing for something, and the mortals are pieces in a larger game. Alexa must lead a growing group of cursed individuals while Jericho uncovers what the gods actually want. Romance deepens, but duty constantly pulls them apart.

The secondary cursed characters are fleshed out with their own arcs, this feels like an ensemble cast now. The mythology expands without getting convoluted. Alexa and Jericho's dynamic shifts from survival to strategy, which is more interesting. The stakes feel personal and cosmic at once.

Battle violence, curse-related deaths, character separation, moral ambiguity, sacrifice themes.

One of the cursed mortals is a mole for the gods, trust is broken publicly. Jericho discovers the gods are using the mortals to prevent an apocalypse, not recruit heirs. Alexa makes a choice that weakens her bond with Jericho temporarily. Book ends on a cliffhanger about what the gods are actually preventing.

Book 2, so assumed you've read Curse of the Gods first. For readers invested in ensemble casts. If you liked The Shadows Between Us for character-driven mythology. NOT for standalone readers or those wanting the couple to be the only focus.
