Heart of Silk and Shadows

Heart of Silk and Shadows

Your rating

A woman deals with the treacherous world of fae courts where every word is a weapon and every alliance is a gamble. Political intrigue and dark attraction pull her in directions she never expected, forcing her to become someone stronger and more ruthless. The court of silk and shadows offers beauty and betrayal in equal measure.

Everything You Need to Know About Heart of Silk and Shadows

A fae warrior with a sealed curse meets a scholar who might be the only one capable of breaking it. Their connection is instant but dangerous, because healing his curse means confronting the dark magic that shaped him. What starts as a mission becomes personal as they realize the curse's origin runs deeper than anyone wanted to admit.

The dynamic between them is sharp, one's action, the other's mind, and they push each other. The Fae Isles setting has actual politics and history (feels earned, not generic 'magical land'). The romance doesn't override the plot; it's built into figuring out how to survive what's coming. Spice is frequent and used to show emotional truth, not filler.

Dark magic, blood, violence, curse/trauma aftermath, references to control and coercion.

The curse-breaker isn't what anyone thinks, it requires a sacrifice, but not the expected one. Their bond becomes the magic itself, which changes the rules of how fae courts operate. By the end, both characters have fundamentally shifted their place in the Isles' hierarchy.

Fans of Holly Black's Cruel Prince era or Sylvia Moreno-Garcia's sensual gothic vibes. If you want a sequel that doesn't feel like a cash grab, Court of Blood and Bindings (first in the series) establishes the world, but this stands on its own if you jump in.

Book 2 of Fae Isles. Read Court of Blood and Bindings first for full context; this sequel raises stakes on the court dynamics and magic system established there.
